Zenani Mandela dies in a car accident. The former South African Leader Nelson Mandela tragically lost his 13 year old great granddaughter on June 11, 2010 after a one car accident in Johannesburg. Initial reports offer few details yet indicate a driver struck Zenani after losing control of his vehicle perhaps due to drunk driving. Police spokeswoman Edna Mamonyane reported the vehicle “collided with a barricade.”
Zenani is the granddaughter of Nelson Mandela’s daughter Zindzi. Nelson Mandela was scheduled to attend the opening ceremonies of the World Cup and did not attend because of this horrible loss.
