Melissa-Ade

Choreographer Tyce Diorio put together a beautiful dance for Melissa and Ade on the July 22nd episode of So You Think You Can Dance.

The dance was based on a woman struggling with breast cancer, and showing the way she deals, as well as how her friend might deal as well. The judges loved the dance, even guessing that it would get Tyce nominated for another Emmy.

The dance about breast cancer was done with so much sensitivity and beauty,
I could not help but cry with everyone else. I have had cancer (not breast)
but non-hodgkin lymphoma and it is currently in remission. I thank God for this, but the apprehension does not go away. Thank you Tyce for creating this dance, and Melissa and Ade for dancing it with so much beauty.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year at age 36 (after 10 months of treatment I am now cancer-free). I started crying just looking at the costumes before it started – Melissa wearing a head scarf looked so authentic, and they both danced with real emotions. Thanks Tyce, Melissa, and Ade for the beautiful work.

Tyce, thanks a great deal for such a well put together performance. I also want to thank Melissa and Ade for demostrating such passion and strength. I myself have never experienced cancer but was diagnosed with AIDS, April 2002. I had chills the entire time watching the performance. Seeing all those people whom was affected by that one performance was very moving. It has given me a new found respect for dance. The emotion, energy and just sheer agility that Tyce, Melissa and Ade expressed is overwhelming. Again, you all gave a new meaning to interpretive dance.

The song made me cry like a little girl; I was amazed when I saw every one in the panel crying, even Nigel. Tyce was amazing, might go down in So You Think You Can Dance history. Exquicite.

For those who love dance, life, hope, and so much more, please watch the whole thing, including comments from the judges

I haven’t felt like that in a long time. It made me cry and reminded me of how I felt (and still feel) every time I watch the last sequence of Philadelphia.

Carpe Diem

i think that there are very few pieces that touch people on such a level but i deify anyone to watch that and not be moved. That was beautiful.

absolutely incredible. I began to cry when she pounded on his chest. This was the most powerful dance I have ever seen. I was alone when I saw it and was very glad. I sobbed like a baby.
