90210 star Shenae Grimes recently dished to Complex.com about high maintenance girls, catty women, and chivalry! Check out the rest of the photos and the interview here!
Men say: Women with a lot of girlfriends are too high-maintenance.
Shenae Grimes says: A woman who calls a lot of people her “friend” is prone to be more superficial and materialistic than one who concentrates more on the value of each friendship. I grew up in a very catty area of Toronto, so from a young age I had to establish what an acquaintance was, versus a friend. Thankfully I learned those lessons before I came to Hollywood.
Men say: Just because I need a guys’ night out a couple of times a week doesn’t mean I don’t want to spend time with you.
Shenae Grimes says: That I totally get. But I’d be wary of what one was doing on that “guys’ night out.” A major mistake so many couples make is not separating their lives. When you start seeing yourself as a pair, instead of as an individual who’s found a great partner, issues can spring up.
Men say: A woman who knows what she wants, and won’t take no for an answer, is hot.
Shenae Grimes says: I’m like that, so guys who are too nice or too safe I get bored with quickly. I need someone who can keep me on my toes, but at the same time I’m a lot to handle.
Men say: Chivalry is dead.
Shenae Grimes says: It means something completely different now. I’d be uncomfortable if a boy opened the door for me or paid for my meals all the time, because I’m perfectly capable. The whole point is—make a lady feel like she’s special.
