Lissette Lee was arrested for massive marijuana charges. The Californian socialite was reportedly paid over $60,000 to travel to Columbia, with a bodyguard and two personal assistant entourage, via private jet to bring 500 pounds of pot crammed into 28 suitcases to Columbus, Ohio. Lee made 4 trips and racked up well over $360,000 before the Drug Enforcement Agency sniffed suspicious activities.
Lee and her entourage were arrested at the Columbus airport on June 16, 2010. Airport employees reported “suspicious behavior” and unusual amounts of luggage when Lee’s private jet landed. DEA Officers watched Lee’s entourage unload the plane and assist baggage workers with bags so heavy it took three men to carry them. The DEA officers moved in when they determined they had enough evidence to warrant a search. The officers found the bags stuffed with bricks of marijuana. When Lee’s handbag was searched, she had three cell phones, cocaine, marijuana, and ledgers documenting over $300,000 worth of business officers believe was drug transactions.
Officers arrested Lee and she is in police custody. She will be held without bail until her first court appearance Friday, June 18, 2010 where she will be formally charged with conspiracy and possession of drugs with the intent to distribute. If a jury finds Lee guilty, she faces $2 million dollars in fines and at least a 40 year jail sentence.
