Colton Harris-Moore, the “Barefoot Bandit” was arrested in the Bahamas on July 11, 2010. The serial burglar with a trademark of leaving barefooted footprints behind his 100 crime, 8 state, and one Canadian province, stealing spree was apprehended on the northern Eleuthera Island in the early hours of Sunday.
Harris-Moore was believed to have escaped a Camano Island, Washington, halfway house for young offenders in April 2008. Harris-Moore then traveled by stealing boats, small aircraft, money, food, and credit cards during his crime spree.
Harris-Moore has has been deemed a modern day folk legend who has over 20,000 FaceBook fans and was hunted by the FBI. The FBI offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to Harris-Moore’s capture and arrest.
Harris-Moore’s mother, Pamela Kohler, is relieved of the capture of her 19 year old son. Kohler’s attorney issued a statement to PEOPLE which read: “I am very relieved that Colt is now safe and that no one was hurt during his capture. It has been over two and a half years since I have seen him, and I miss him terribly. I hope that it will be possible for me to see him sometime soon.”
