If you were at all disappointed in Catherine Hardwicke’s lame interpretation of Twilight, be prepared to celebrate! Catherine Hardwicke will not be directing New Moon! Yippee! Summit Entertainment and director Catherine Hardwicke jointly announced today that the filmmaker will not be directing the next installment in the newly minted TWILIGHT film franchise.
Apparently, the release date of Late 2009 didn’t sit will with Hardwicke, so the studio is going to hire a new director!
‘I am sorry that due to timing I will not have the opportunity to direct New Moon‘ said Hardwicke. ‘Directing TWILIGHT has been one of the great experiences of my life, and I am grateful to the fans for their passionate support of the film. I wish everyone at Summit the best with the sequel, it is a great story.’
Maybe the next director will make a movie worth my money! I vote for Alfonso Cuaron! He saved the Harry Potter franchise!

i think twilight was the best film ever
I think twilight was an amazing film and so not lame.Ifit was so lame then why did so many people watch it.
I think twilight was the best movie ever made!!!!!
And all of the actors fit their rolls parfectly and all the poeple I know thinks Robbert Pattinson makes the best ever vampire!!!!!
Love Dané
I Am Rejoicing That She Was Fired, Or Quit.
Whatever.
Whoever Is Directing It Is Going To Have To Be Incredibly Creative To Pull Off New Moon Because Of The Previous Director.
So Much Was Left Out.
First Of All,
How Did Bella And Edward Fall In Love?
She Portrays Him As An Unlovable Jerk, And Bella As A Boring Infatuated Teenager.
You Don’t See Them Fall In Love At All.
It’s Just Said That They Are.
I Think That Killed It For A Lot Of The Guys.
Not Understanding The Fascination
And Of Course The Girls Who Are Waiting For The Love Scenes.
And They Never Tell That Jasper Has A Talent.
And I Think He Has A Lot To Do With The Last Book, Although His Talents Were Useful In All Of Them.
And They Hardly Brush Over The Fact That Jacob Builds Cars.
The Only Reason Bella Goes To See Him In La Push In The Second One Is To Ask Him To Help Fix The Motorcycles.
There Were A Lot Of Important Factors Left Out Of The Movie.
Although I Love The Movie, Simply Because I’m Obsessed With The Books,
I’m Incredibly Mad That It Was Crap.
I Hope That New Moon Somehow Finds A Way To Include Everything Left Out, And Make It Just As Wonderful As The Book.
AND SHOW THEM FALLING IN LOVE!!!
Show The Reason Why Bella Loves Him.
Because If I Only Watched The Movie I Wouldn’t Understand.
First off, shut up.
Second, don’t capitalize every freaking word.
The books never tell why they fall in love. You don’t know that this wasn’t planned out. Some information can be explained in the second movie. Needing to know that Jasper has a power really isn’t that important right now. Also, as a guy, I’m glad that the movie wasn’t as gushy as the book. Edward is a jerk, so Robert portrayed him as one. Good acting. Bella is dull, and Kristen played it well. As for “love scenes” did you read the book? There really were no love scenes. I think that you need to shut up and think before you speak.
Also, with your last book comment, this is the FIRST MOVIE. Not the LAST BOOK.
It’s dumb people like you that need to seriously shut up and not talk.
i think catherine did an outstanding job.
obviously the movie isn’t going to be exactly like the book.
you can’t make a 500 page book fit into a 2 hour movie.
stop giving her so much shit, personally i think she did the best that anyone could do making twilight.
great job.
An amazing book should be an equally amazing movie- Twilight was not.
I’m looking forward to having a new director. Twilight the movie was such a disappointment and I mostly blame the director. Did she even read the books? Hello, there is NO way Edward would let Bella climb around in the tops of trees. And how is Bella’s caretaker/defender nature supposed to develop if she doesn’t even cook and take care of her dad? This may not seem like an important part to show but we all know how important it is in the end. It really helps show her character development as the ultimate protector. I also don’t think they focused enough on the connection between Bella and Edward. Showing clips of them talking while music played in the background does not show the mental and emotional connection between them. The sexual connection is a no brainer but sexual attraction wouldn’t make Bella freak out in the end when Edward talks of leaving, which is why that scene fell completely flat. There is a reason these books appeal to women of all ages, because they were smartly written. Unfortunately the movie was a dumbed down bubble gum version of Stephanie’s hard work and care for her characters. I really like the movie About A Boy and it showed real depth and understanding of complex characters and emotions. If Chris can bring just a little of that to New Moon, I think we will all see the Bella, Edward and Jacob Stephanie created.
i personally didnt have a feel for the books till i saw this movie. i have watched it 5 times already and plan to buy it. she was a fantastic director and did an amazing job. i am so critical and skeptical about the whole vampire love theme but.. this is the best movie i have ever seen. i am saddened she is not coming back, and i do have to say i HATE the fact that Robert Pattinson is getting only TWO SCENES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Taylor is getting aton. but, i do agree it should be fair game, but Bella and Edward are in love, and you can tell that, and i dont think a WareWolf, will change that for an instant. Just like Bella said at the Prom scene in the Gazebo, “I know what i want, and i’m not going to give in.” She is ” completely and inapplicabily in love with him”.
i think twilight sucked compaired to what it could have been. i love the books and the movie was so dissapointing, im glad they’re getting a new director, hopefully they’ll do a better job so i can enjoy watching it instead of getting so frusterated.
thank god they fired catherine. get a new bella as well. maybe if they had got someone that could actually ACT the part of bella i would have liked the movie a little bit. theres no conection what-so-ever with edward and bella, i dont get how stephenie would even let this movie slide. her books are awesome and will always be way better. i cant wait to see what a new director does with new moon.
Thank GOD! I loved the first book! But the movie no sucked! People went to watch it because there were so many good looking men in this movie! But you have to be a pretty sucky director to make such a bad movie with skilled actors at your disposal! Some moments in the movie were just ridiculus! Cough Billy/Edward Stare down Cough!
P.S. Ignore the “no” before the “sucked” lol
I have read all four books, plus the unfinished 5th book that is on stephenie’s blog. I have watched the movie at least 10 times. When I finished the 1st book, I immediately watched the movie. I was completely disappointed. I understand that it is hard to translate an amazing book into film, but it could have been a lot better. When I finished reading the 1st book, I couldn’t wait to see what happens in the 2nd book, when the movie was over I didn’t have the same feeling. It didn’t leave me anxious like the book did. I hope the movie New Moon captures more of the books uniqueness. So you ask why I have watched the movie 10 times if I really didn’t care for it, well I keep watching it because I hope I missed something in the movie that would make it seem more like the book, plus there are some hotties in it (that makes it worth watching). I think that Stephenie is a great author, and I hope and pray that she finishes the 5th book and keeps them going.
omg i love twilight its an awesome movie the best one yet no movie can top it well maybe new moon and i love the books im glad that catherine is gone she did it no justice but it was still good but i think iit could of benn so much bdetter than ut was but i still love it so much TWILIGHT ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the movie was good …. not as good as it could have been but it was not horrible ! the books were better !!! i started reading them after i watched the movie and i thought it was good to actully picture the people i think the cast was amazing …. but for Catherine i think she did an ok job … but it seems like they did not have the biggest budget so if u dont have a big budget its sort of hard to put everything you want in the film …. And people should not be so harsh about criticizing her … could you have done a better job ?? probably not ….
ok u all need 2 understand something u r blaming the movies story line on cathrine hardwick! she is the director she did not write the movie 4 goodness sake. if u think the storyline sucked blame the writters not her oh and by the way she quit they didn’t fire her. and she quit bcuz she said they wer not going 2 give her as much time as she needed 2 make the film
i love the books they are amazing but i agree that she was awful at directing the first i know u cant put the whole book in but the important part and the reasons of the books is their love for each other , in the film there was no build up it did nt show any emotion it was like , ‘oh yeah we love each other and will always be together blah blah blah’ bella was rubbish just could nt act she is nt mature enough to take on a lead role , they dont need every part of the book just hope with new moon they get across more the emotion of it then anything else so it feels more like when you read the books
i’m so glad she’s not directing new moon. twilight was so disappointing compared to the book. the story is so fantastic, and the movie was good, but she didn’t capture the relationships between bella and her father and even the relationship between bella and edward. the character development in the movie was lame.
i already have my new moon tickets preordered. can’t wait!!
