Joe Jonas Does Retail Therapy in L.A.

Joe Jonas, Disney star and singer in the Jonas Brothers, did a little retail therapy in Los Angeles, California, on Thursday. Jonas joined some friends to shop in one of the most “ultimate” shopping plaza’s in the United States.

Jonas has led a busy schedule of late. He juggles a film and music career with a certain finesse that most of his twenty year old peers lack. Jonas has been hard at work filming “Camp Rock” and “JONAS” with his brothers. He also recently has been collaborating with Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and a cameo for Indie-rock band the Vampire Weekend.

What we do know about the film is the Jonas Brothers have a lot of free time on their hands between takes. The trio have frequently been spotted throwing around footballs, dancing in parking lots, and even soaking up the rays of the California sun.

Upcoming projects for the Jonas Brothers include: a Disney produced reality show series entitled the “Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream” and “Camp Rock: The Final Jam,” a Disney Channel Original Movie.

Rumor has it the Jonas Brothers intend to star in the film adaptation of the popular children’s book “Walter the Farting Dog” as well.

Joe Jonas, the nearly 21 year old lead singer of the Jonas Brothers, was spotted out and about in Santa Monica, California, yesterday surrounded by hearts. He was casually dressed and somewhat disheveled. Perhaps he was out looking for companion ship. Jonas told photographers he was chatting with a “friend.” Maybe this lady friend could be a prospective suitor. The poor guy has had a string of bad luck when it comes to love. He dated AJ Michalka, had a high profile on and off again relationship with country songstress Taylor Swift, and also dated Camilla Belle.

Haitian Relief Causes Battle of Theme Song

In the wake of the series of earthquakes that left Haiti devastated, the world ready to offer help, and, as if watching the news wasn’t enough to illustrate tragedy, now there’s a battle on concerning which song better captures the essence of disaster.

There’s a storm brewing regarding a charitable theme song for Haiti. Remakes of the two popular songs REM’s “Everybody Hurts” and Michael Jackson’s “We Are The World” are soon to be hitting the airwaves and internet.

On February 1st, a mass amount of celebrity power gathered to rerecord “We Are The World.” Lionel Richie, Quincy Jones, Pink, Celine Dion, Natalie Cole, the Jonas Brothers, Kanye West, Tony Bennett. Jennifer Hudson, Akon, Julianne Hough, Barbra Streisand, Harry Connick, Jr, Jordin Sparks, Justin Beiber, Carlos Santana, Brian Wilson, Joel Madden, and many others gathered in Hollywood to lend their voices to support Haitian Relief Efforts. When this colossal collaboration is slated to be release has not yet been confirmed though there is speculation it will be played during opening ceremonies for the Vancouver Olympics.

However, on February 8th, Sony Music will release the remake of REM’s ”Everybody Hurts.” This collaboration was created by former American Idol judge Simon Cowell. Twenty one artists gathered to sing this song, including Robbie Williams, Leona Lewis, Joe McElderry, Jon Bon Jovi, Kylie Minogue, Mariah Carey, Rod Stewart, JLS, Cheryl Cole, Susan Boyle, Mika, Michael Buble, Miley Cyrus, James Blunt, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, Shane Filan, andMark Feehily.

Lets hope this “battle of the bands” does not detract from the original purpose to raise awareness and funds in the effort to assist Haiti in such a dire time of need. It’s been said that in times of great chaos and suffering, creative genius and generosity can take hold. It seems to not be the case in this battle for a theme song. A popularity contest has started which makes one ask: whatever happened to good old fashioned originality? Perhaps songs from the past are better left alone to make way for newer and better ones.

“We Are The World” Remake 2010

It’s been 25 years since Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson collaborated to raise funds for the USA Africa Charity. The theme song of the event was the earwig “We Are The World” and it raised over $3 million to feed Africans.

Now it seems that Lionel Richie can’t stop his generosity. Richie intends to remake “We Are the World” to assist relief efforts in Haiti.

Today, in the same studio that recorded the original, over 80 stars gathered to remake the iconic song (minus the King of Pop Michael Jackson.) Among the list of celebrities joining the effort were: Celine Dion, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Jamie Foxx, Lady Gaga, Jeff Bridges, Rob Thomas, Jason Mraz, Wyclef Jean, Justin Bieber, Pink, Adam Levine, Jonas Brothers, Sugarland, Miley Cyrus, Kanye West, Vince Vaughn, Kid Cudi, Drake, LL Cool J, Will.I.Am, Mos Def and Julianne Hough.

Rumor has it that NBC will play this song during opening for the Vancouver Olympics. Reps will neither confirm or deny this claim.

Jonas Brothers and Black Eyed Peas Collaborate

A pair of Jonas Brothers, Joe and Kevin, and Black Eyed Peas’ front man Will-i-am had what appeared to be an intense behind-the-scenes discussion at last nights’ Grammy Awards. Judging from the looks on the trios’ faces, this conversation was meant to be private. Perhaps they were discussing Will-i-am’s performance of “Imma Be” or “I’ve got a feeling.” Perhaps they were discussing politics. Perhaps they were discussing the weather.

Whatever the subject of the conversation Joe, Kevin, and Will discussed, lets hope it involved a collaboration between The Jonas Brothers and The Black Eyed Peas. That would be interesting, to say the least…

Selena Gomez Paints For Charity

Selena Gomez took a break from filming “Wizards of Waverly Place” to donate her time for charity. She and cast mate Jennifer Stone took a break from the show to paint bird feeders for Disney’s “Friends for Change Program.” This program was created to help advocate and support the “Green Movement.” Disney’s focus targets waste, water, climate, and habitat management. Disney also plans to donate large contributions to various environment causes, including protection of natural wildlife, specifically polar bears, in the Arctic region.

Many other celebrities have stepped out and supported this cause. They include: Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, and even the Jonas Brothers.

Will the Jonas Brothers split in the near future?

Rob Shuter of Pop Eater is reporting that with one Jonas brother married and another planning on becoming the next king of pop, tween hearts across America may soon be broken in 2010.

According to Shuter:

“Joe sees the writing on the wall for the group,” a family insider tells me. “Kevin’s heart is just not in the group anymore. His wife Danielle is his number one priority, especially after their wedding night!”

“Nick sees himself as the next Justin Timberlake and brother Joe knows it,” a friend tells me. Nick already has a solo album out February 2 and a 14-city tour. “Nick insists this is something that can definitely co-exist with the Jonas Brothers.”

But when it comes to boy bands, we’ve heard that one before. Only time will tell where the band will end up.

The Jonas Brothers talk Christmas Plans

Pop superstars The Jonas Brothers chatted up about their Christmas plans on the red carpet of the MTV EMA’s. The brothers declined the chance to dish on which celeb crushes they’d like to meet under the mistletoe, but they shared that they’d be spending the Christmas holiday with their family!

“New Years is with friends, and Christmas, usually it’s with family,” said Joe Jonas when asked about their schedule this season.

The Jonas Brothers CONFIRM Nick’s Solo Album

The Jonas Brothers have confirmed that Nick Jonas will be recording an album with his band called The Administration. The brothers wrote to their fans,

To our dearest fans, A news story hit the internet today concerning Nick Jonas & The Administration. We are so excited to share it with you.. OUR FANS. From Nick: About 6 months ago, the three of us had a 2 week break from touring, and we all decided to go and do something that was on our hearts. Joe went on a trip to Australia and New Zealand. Kevin spent some time with his fiancé Danielle.

I decided to go to Nashville, TN to make a side project (Nick Jonas & The Administration) with 4 musicians – guys that I had met and worked with before. If I was to describe the sound to someone… I would say its ‘heart & soul’, because the music that I make is from my heart, and the lyrics I write are from my soul.

We’ve said from the beginning of our career as the Jonas Brothers that anything we do outside of the group is a side project because you can’t break up brothers. My brothers are my biggest supporters, and were on the phone with me every day while I was in the studio asking how it was going, and telling me they couldn’t wait to hear the record..

My brothers and I couldn’t be more excited to have these amazing opportunities as a group, and as individuals. We are already planning another world tour AS THE JONAS BROTHERS next summer, and it is all thanks to our amazing fans. I am so excited to share more details about my project with all of you as we come closer to the end of the year, but for right now, Kevin, Joe and I have a show to play in Venezuela!

From Joe and Kevin: We are so proud of our brother Nick. We know that we will be doing music together for the rest of our lives. But we are thrilled for you to hear these songs that were on his heart. They are amazing works of art from an amazing talent.. our brother.
